About Sculpt

Sculpt is a unique Pilates and Personal Training studio that was established in 2008 by Janis Luby.

Janis Luby has three passions: teaching, learning and Pilates.
From her years of experience as an elementary school teacher to coaching college triathletes, she gets real satisfaction from seeing others succeed. "I love to see people learning how their bodies work," she says. "And I also understand how hard it is to get motivated; the challenges people face in just showing up."

Janis is quick to mention that Pilates was a new challenge to her once. Still committed to a rewarding and successful teaching career, she picked up classes at a local studio and got hooked. Eventually Janis became a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and a certified triathlon coach through the United States Association of Triathlon in 2003. In 2005, Janis worked as an apprentice to Master Pilates instructor, David Englund and received her certification in Classical Pilates from the Pilates Method Alliance.

Janis accomplished her dream when Sculpt opened in 2009. The training focus in her studio is as varied as the clientele. Janis works with preteens, athletes, senior citizens and people of every stage of life and area of interest. She adjusts workouts accordingly; strengthening backs, recomposing gaits, ironing out posture with a sharp eye for detail; all delivered with compassion, enthusiasm and committed precision, much in the spirit of Joseph Pilates himself.

"I love to teach, and I love to learn," she says. She means it. Personal training sessions often include gratifying insights into body mechanics that are clearly deeply educated; with a dose of good old fashioned persistence. "People come here to do Pilates," Janis says. "So when they come here, they're going to work" But Janis still also loves Pilates. "You should see me when no one's here," she says, looking around the fresh, comfortable studio. "I'm all over these machines."
